Riley Spear, Forester-in-Training & Arborist - B.Sc. Forest Resources Management, ISA Certified Arborist®, FIT
Riley is a Forester in Training and ISA Certified Arborist with half a decade of operational wildfire experience. He holds a B.Sc. in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick and a diploma in Forest Technology from the Maritime College of Forest Technology. Riley is passionate about wildfire ecology and management, wildfire risk mitigation, and preserving biodiversity through sustainable forest practices. At DHC, Riley works on various projects for private, municipal, and government entities. His expertise includes fieldwork, data analysis, and report writing, with emphasis on wildfire threat mitigation and arboriculture. He has completed numerous Wildfire Development Permit Reports and Arborist Reports for various landowners throughout the lower mainland. Recently, Riley has helped complete a successful Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan for The Peace River Regional District in British Columbia and O’Chiese First Nation in Alberta. Over the next five years, Riley’s goal is to achieve his certification as a Registered Professional Forester with FPBC, continue to promote wildfire risk mitigation, and help landowners manage their natural assets.
