Join our award-winning team at Diamond Head Consulting! We’re a leading environmental consulting firm in Vancouver, and we're excited to welcome a talented GIS Analyst. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping, enhancing, and maintaining our innovative GIS services while supporting our dynamic office and field teams. Wage Range: $73K to $110K depending on experience

Full time: Monday to Friday

This role:

  • Performs spatial analysis as and when needed to inform decision-making. Compiles and analyzes geospatial data to generate summary statistics.

  • Organizes and manages large geospatial datasets to ensure data accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and metadata standards are met.

  • Creates and manages field forms using ArcGIS Field Maps.

  • Creates and manages web maps, applications, dashboards, and field maps using ESRI ArcGIS Online.

  • Creates visually compelling maps and layouts for reports.

  • Performs data compilation, modeling, and analysis, using GIS and other tools to produce maps, reports, dashboards etc.

  • Assists and trains DHC staff to maximally utilize available GIS resources and innovations. Creates technical documentation for staff to be able to replicate workflows and apply technical concepts.  

  • Assists in drafting technical GIS/remote sensing sections for proposal submissions. Assists in drafting budgets for said proposal submissions.

Specialist tasks required include:

  • Advanced geospatial analyses for projects across departments

  • Land cover and vegetation classification using LiDAR and other remote sensing products

  • Application development and customization with scripting languages (e.g., R, Python, Arcade)

  • Spatial modelling in the field of urban forestry/biology and/or ecology

To be successful, you have:

  • Undergraduate degree, certificate or diploma in geography, planning, statistics, or related discipline and a minimum of 3 to 5+ years of experience;

  • Database management experience

  • Extensive working knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS software

  • Field form design and use of ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Online

  • Python, Arcade, and R scripting for geospatial and data analysis applications

  • Remote Sensing, including LiDAR applications

  • Considerable knowledge of standard statistical and analytical principles and techniques required for urban community planning purposes. Hands-on experience managing and overseeing data conversion, cleaning and preparation.

Bonus skills and experience, not required:

  • Post-graduate degree in GIS, spatial statistics, remote sensing, or related discipline

  • QGIS

  • PowerBI

  • AutoCAD

  • Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) for graphic design and document layout

  • IT skills

GIS Analyst


Professional Climbing Arborist 

Diamond Head Tree Care Ltd (7110 Gilley Avenue, Burnaby BC) is seeking a professional climbing arborist for its new and fast-growing operational team. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience of practical climbing, rigging, removal and pruning, and should be ISA Certified or eligible for certification. Additional requirements for this position include a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a standard transmission chip truck. ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) is considered an asset. Wages are competitive and reflect level of experience and qualifications.
