Biodiversity Enhancement & Restoration
Diamond Head Consulting was contracted to restore and enhance deteriorated biodiversity and wildlife habitat areas at various City of Vancouver Parks & Golf Courses. Despite efforts to increase biodiversity and wildfire habitats in parks over the past 10 years, the quality of these natural areas became degraded without regular maintenance, such as invasive plant management and periodic enhancement through on-going planting.
Diamond Head’s Operations Crew was tasked with manually removing and disposing of target invasive plants from priority park natural areas, and to plant native and pollinator species using the Metro Vancouver Best Management Practices. These activities were carried out at 20 project sites with an estimated total area of 7 hectares. The project was completed in January 2023 with over 12,000 plants planted at the various sites.
