Invasive Species Removal & Restoration for Migratory Bird Species
The Alaksen National Wildlife Area (ANWA) is located at the northern-most tip of the Westham Island in Delta, BC and was established for the conversation of migratory bird species, as well as several at-risk species. The ANWA supports more than half a million birds each winter but their habitats have been endangered through the rapid spread of Himalayan Blackberry (Rubus armeniacus). Diamond Head Consulting has been working with the Canadian Wildlife Service to strategically remove of the species with special consideration to its presence above and below the ground. The project will be ongoing until March 2024.
