Tree Canopy Cover Analysis
The City is presently developing an Urban Forest Management Plan and this review, along with the canopy assessment, provided insight into some of the opportunities to close policy gaps related to urban forest management. DHC reviewed existing plans, policies, and bylaws to understand the current structure and influences on urban forest canopy management in the City of Saskatoon. This included a review of the current urban forest management program and survey of City staff. Criteria and indicator tables were designed to evaluate progress in the development of the City’s urban forest canopy.
