Metro Vancouver Rights-of-Way – Noxious Weed Control
DHC is responsible for the annual inventory and treatment of noxious weeds along MOTI owned highways and gravel pits in the Lower Mainland. Two rounds of chemical treatment are carried out targeting a variety of noxious weeds including knotweed, giant hogweed, gorse, common tansy, Scotch broom, Canada thistle, periwinkle, Himalayan blackberry, oxeye daisy, bull thistle, curled dock, St. John’s wort, Queen Anne’s lace, yellow hawkweed, comfrey, clematis and butterfly bush. In addition Scotch broom is manually cut and chipped to reduce fire hazard. The deliverables included an annual report, site maps and IAPP data entry.
