State of Biodiversity Report & Biodiversity Conversation Strategy (2022-ongoing)

Diamond Head Consulting was hired by the District of Saanich to assess and identify the current state of biodiversity within the district. Natural areas and their characteristics were mapped, ground-truthed, and analyzed. The findings of this assessment have been summarised within a State of Biodiversity report and accompanying maps illustrating habitat types and biodiversity rankings. This highlights areas offering high biodiversity and identifies major threats to these areas. DHC is currently working on the second phase of this project, which includes the development of a habitat connectivity network and a Biodiversity Conservation Strategy. This second phase addresses policy, management, and stewardship opportunities to protect, restore, and enhance biodiversity in the district in the future.
