CITY OF COURTENAY
Urban Forest Strategy
Diamond Head worked with the City of Courtenay to develop their Urban Forest Strategy. The Strategy details the goals and actions to manage the public and private urban forest over the next 30 years. DHC started to work with Courtenay following the update of their Tree Protection Bylaw, which had spurred community conversations about developing an overarching vision and strategy to guide protection and management of the urban forest.
DHC’s work on the strategy involved reviewing the tree bylaw and how it is administered to identify recommendations for improving the process and outcomes for tree protection. The process included consideration of how to appropriately integrate with other City policies, such as their Environmental DPA, to ensure efficient implementation.
