Urban Forest Strategy and City Tree Inventory
Diamond Head worked with the City of Burnaby to develop their Urban Forest Management Plan, which will guide the management and growth of their urban forest in Burnaby Lands to 2040. The project was executed in two phases. Phase 1 was focused on parks, forests, and trees in Burnaby and will provide a LiDAR canopy mapping analysis, a forest structure analysis, a classification system, a supply forecasting model, a cost-benefit analysis, and a forested parks plan. Phase 2 is focused on boulevard trees and will provide a full inventory of boulevard trees, identifying planting opportunities, a cost-benefit analysis of ecosystem services, and an Urban Forest Management Plan. Additional scope was added, including a 2022 LiDAR canopy cover analysis, a Tree Equity Score, and a State of the Urban Forest Report.
